Bon Voyage (2003, lang. French)

Another yet enjoyable evening at the Limassol Film Club (every Monday at Othellos 2 @ 8:30 for those who are interested); if only the film hadn't been so amazingly long! Great cast (Isabelle Adjani, Gerard Depardieu, Virginie Ledoyen), however the plot far too heavy and complicated, the film's great cinematography seemed to get lost in it. Taking place during France's last days of freedom before surrendering to the Germans, the film takes us on a rollercoaster of mishappenings and misunderstandings, involving a man being jailed for a murder he did not commit for the love of a film actress, a Jewish proffesor trying to leave the county before the Germans get to his precious chemical formula, and a corrupt politician who seems to care more for a film star rather than his country's political dilemma. Despite everything however, a light and enjoyable film recommended to those who don't seek high meaning and all-important messages in cinema.
